  1. It all goes back to the dismantling of the ottoman empire and the Sykes-Picot agreement that betrayed the Arab uprising. Divide and conquer is the main reason for "no Arab great power" the last century, along with keeping corrupt tyrants in power: They're easier to control and coerce than the democratic will of an informed public.
