"The last human born" is such an intriguing concept. I wonder with technology, biological and/or digital enhancements throughout the centuries if our very distant grand children would even be considered "human" by our limited perspective. Would humans even be "born" by then?

Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you can accept that you have a problem, and start working on the solution. WW2, however horrible it was, brought forth many important ideas and norms that we've tried (sometimes failed) to live by and uphold. As long as we keep trying we'll get there...

@Jose As I said, it's hard for us to imagine. Whilst uploading our minds and living forever digitally sounds great, I'd have to witness that society first hand to tell you if it's an actual improvement for society and the individual. An eternal digital domain where everything is possible would quickly become stagnant and stale without new humans "born" and older human minds perishing and making room. Just think of the average white man from the 1800's and consider if they would have made room for the positive and egalitarian changes that we've seen the last 100 years if they were still heavily in power. What you're describing is a dystopia camouflaged as a paradise.

@Jose No, not closed minded, just sceptical. Every technology we've created have brought great things with it and have also impacted lives negatively. Case in point: The internet the last 20 years. Good? Bad? Both? I think it's naive to think that people in power, now exceedingly wealthy and effectively immortal, would willingly cede that power. Especially if their views and norms are conflicting with the general population. Imagine a 1700's French noble or 1800's Plantation owner from the South still weilding the same political and economical power today... Being a bit sceptic about technology is healthy.
