  2. Their plans have 2 aims: 1. To switch attention and narrative from the ongoing diplomatic and political humiliation that Israel and the US & UK are suffering from at the moment from the genocide in Gaza. 2. Biden and Sunak will stand for re-election in 2024. Netanyahu will likely do the same no matter the outcome of Gaza. However if they can create a regional conflagration and convince their public that they're in danger and "fighting evil", they just might succeed to convince enough of the populations to elect them once again. It's disgusting, but there is no greater strategy at play here, just protecting Israel and maintaining their own seats of power.
