@elvenkind6072 But it is on every parameter - fewernukes, fewer conflicts, more democracies, better health, food and access to water, more people getting educated. The Ukraine war and Pakistan are the only real components for the fear of nuclear weapons. And Pakistan has always been an unstable mess. Certainly not worse off than in the 70s. They're just not 100% aligned towards the US anymore. That leaves Ukraine. We only give a shit because it's happening in Europe to white people. Plenty of nuclear armed nations have gone to war against non-nuclear nations supported by their adversaries. USSR in Afghanistan? US in Vietnam? My money is still on Russia being far more stable now than right after the fall of the USSR with disparate republics in control of nuclear weapons. There are absolutely no measurable parameters that speaks to a worse situation now than 40-50 years ago. But I grant you that there's more tension now than, say, 10 years ago. Unless you were at an Iraqi market or Afghani Wedding. And that's about it. It's fearmongering.
