  1. The US can effectively cripple any CCP ambitions by projecting their air and sea power into the Indian Ocean and the Pacific-Arctic, threatening 80% of all Chinese energy imports. Area denial is important for China, but will do nothing to prevent US power projection outside the Chinese "sphere of influence" (at least from the CCP point of view). It's basically the USSR doctrine all over again, but without the vast access to internal natural resources...
