It's not surprising and there is no hypocrisy here. The policies are working exactly as intended. Here in Denmark, our former minister of immigration said it in plain terms "it's no secret we prefer Ukrainian refugees to Syrians, Iraqis and Afghans, as they share our values and will easily assimilate into our society". There you have it, black on white. We intend to treat people in need differently depending on their ethnicity, creed or skin colour. And if the courts here in Denmark (and probably the US too) could constitutionally allow denying specific groups migration or asylum rights, then politicians would be pushing for that too. It's our disgusting reality.

@littlewoodchopper6476 Pretty sure you have a much bigger problem with domestic "White Anglo" terrorism than you have with Syrian or Afghan asylum seekers. So cut the sound bite crap, please. People that flee these countries are more inclined to share your values than not. Plenty of examples of that. Considering you're a supposed country of immigrants, it seems bit messed up to actively discriminate between what you deem are "good" or "bad" migrants. And don't forget that many Ukrainians aren't exactly libertines when it comes to personal freedom, women, LGBT or race...

@GR_Guitar Immigration is for each country to decide. I can't be the arbiter of that. The commitment to the UN charter on asylum seekers ie refugees is however a different matter entirely. You can't williy nilly set arbitrary reasons for denying one group in need whilst accepting another. Your point is valid, but I will nonetheless reserve the right to criticize any- and everything that's fucked up, even if I'm not an expert with a ready solution for the problem. First part of a solution is always to acknowledge that there is in fact a problem.
