@JOATJESSE In the USA and the EU, you depend on the employer. Only employees of large corporations have paid vacations and sick days. But in Russia there is a law according to which all Russians have annual paid leave and sick leave. The law even says about the duration of vacations for employees of different specialties. Last year I had 3 paid sick days for 2 weeks and plus paid leave for 24 days. My wife is a teacher at a technical school, her annual paid leave is 56 days. But now she is on paid maternity leave for 3 years. Moreover, her workplace remains with her for 3 years. After the end of maternity leave, she will return to her workplace. This is a law that all employers are required to comply with.
