Ukrainians received good free housing, education, health care, etc. After the collapse of the USSR, the Americans began to run the show in Ukraine and promote anti-Russian propaganda. Many Russian specialists left, many factories were closed. The population decreased by 2013 to 40 million people. In order to move into the EU, Ukraine had to destroy its economy, close all large industries and fulfill other requirements of the West, which would greatly worsen the quality of life in Ukraine. Therefore, Yanukovych refused to sign these barbaric Western conditions. And in 2013, the United States organized a bloody coup in Ukraine, as a result of which hundreds of people died. The United States overthrew the legitimate government and brought to power their puppets - Ukrainian neo-Nazis. They started a civil war, as a result of which Crimea and Donbass separated from Nazi Ukraine. The economy collapsed, industry, agriculture, education, health care are destroyed. Corruption has become horrendous. Ukrainian Nazis kill civilians on the streets, without trial or investigation. They burned about 50 people alive in Odessa. They burned and destroyed Russian churches and killed the clergy. The prisons are overcrowded, the Nazis pack the coup opponents even in industrial refrigerators. Millions of Ukrainians left for Russia and other countries. Maidan activists who made a fortune on the coup emigrated to the EU and the US. And in 2021, the population of Ukraine was no more than 30 million people. But the West did not stop there either, it filled Ukraine with tons of weapons and called on Ukrainians to fight Russia "to the last drop of blood." And Ukraine began to bomb the Donbass with even greater zeal and began to shell the territory of Russia. So the United States destroyed Ukraine and organized a war against Russia with the hands of Ukrainian Nazis.
