  6. In your country however the Germans did not pursue a scorched earth policy. You should read about the war crimes committed by the Wehrmacht and the SS in the former USSR. TIK History has some videos about that. While I detest the Soviets, I have no empathy for the Third Reich and their supporters whether they were NSDAP members or not. Maybe the Germans should never have invaded the USSR? They were the aggressor then, the way Russia is the aggressor now.

I just think and I have good reason to think so, that the current regime will not be as effective at managing the Russians as the previous one. The current crew after all bungled the ABM shield deal with the Americans back under Bush and Obama. Kaczor's brother died in Smolensk, and so he is very anti-Russian. And that's a good thing.

  17. Ukraine should not have given up her nucler weapons. Those things are the only guarantee of safety. Look how gentle the Americans are with Ukraine vs Russia and how afraid of Moscow they are vs how much they're willing to help Israel. Israel is facing non nuclear foes. Americans will assist them all the way. But Ukraine is facing a nuclear Russia. It's on its own. I don't think Ukraine will be permitted to develop her own nukes the way we on the Eastern flank of NATO will never be allowed that. Only some countries have the luxury and right to have their own insurance, the rest of us will be fodder.

I don't know how good his English is, as I follow him in Polish, but Bartosiak and Swidzinski speak decent English. I think it's important to get the Polish perspective. I know Brits always consider their own to be the best but it would be eye opening for the viewers here to listen to what people who know Russia well think.

  21. My Italian friend, why do you worry about Russia? You guys always get well on with them. US won't side with Russia. There is a wave of anti-US propaganda because a non progressive president in the US who wants the Germans to cough up. He never said he's leaving NATO. And he's happy to defend other nations who pay the 5% GDP for defense. It's transactional. It's always been that way. Honestly let Germany pay. Germany needs to cut some social spending and build an actual army. They have all these migrants they can put in the Bundeswehr, if ordinary Germans are too green, too Russophilic, or too progressive to get involved with military.

  23. While I can empathise, you have to remember that the German army committed horrible crimes against the Slav and Jewish people in those areas. TIK History has videos about that. It was also Germany which started to mass exterminate Russian POWs. Russian POWs were treated like animals and were starved to death. The Germans chose Adolf Hitler at the end of the day. The Soviet people never voted for Stalin, the Bolsheviks came to power in a revolution, then won a civil war and never held elections. Culpability has to be rationally shared where it's due.

Our only hope is with US, and Michta thinks that Trump will not be as pro-Russian as many think. If Trump wins hopefully he sets the EU straight and makes everyone pay their fair share which will help Poland.

  27. Well no Jahara. Not that everyone did not like democracy, many did not like the baggage which comes with that which is extra-democratic. Mere elections and people voting based on their own culture is fine but when you impose your own values and you force through geopolitical and economic benefits for yourself, that draws opposition. And your organisations do undermine local people. For example the US owned news network, TVN24 has been campaigning relentlessly against the democratically elected but conservative (it's an unforgivable sin for you) largely Catholic (an even worse sin) government run by PiS (Law and Justice) in Poland. American NGOs also did their best to undermine those. In Hungary Western and American NGOs do their best to undermine Orban and that country's democratically elected government. Because democracy isn't really what many Americans are after but it's a colonial like mindset of changing the world, of colonialism, of crusades and later Puritanism. So if the Russians and Chinese consider your soft power and your organisations a Fifth Column, that makes sense. You are in fact undermining them because you're imposing your own Anglo-Saxon culture and also your own economically driven effects on them. You want Poles for example to be diverse. Because you put gay men in prison, and Poland did not, because you colonised and exploited non whites, and Poland (and Hungary) did not, we must become strictly like you. And of course you will gain favours for your own businesses. When Poland complained about TVN24 interfering in Polish poliitics suddenly American ambassadors from right wing (under Trump) to the current guy (who can't even speak Polish) you threatened Poland and you said Poland may have no free media. What a joke. All of this undermines genuine work. Genuine work in that most Ukrainians want to be free of the Russian yoke and good for them but because you are not without sin yourselves and you refuse to change, you are doing everyone a disservice.

  28. True. The difference being that the Poles never invaded Russia and never followed a scorched earth policy the way the Germans did in 1940s. The Poles were fighting for their independence in their own former ancestral homelands. The Germans never had a claim on any Soviet lands.

  29.  @SiliconCurtain You have to remember who the first Western leaders in Kyiv were, the very first ones. As for divisiveness you can see that the overall goal is security against Russia. The people here are using cheap political tricks or are Russian trolls who are taking advantage of the situation because Russians always exploit weaknesses. They may as well be pro-Russian regardless. Rachon was pushed out of TVP when TVP was taken over by a new regime. Now he's on the sidelines on TV Republika but you have to remember that 35% or more of Poles still side with him. You can bring in pro-Ukrainian figures from the current ruling party, nobody will be offended. But note how undemocratic the hate here is.

  31.  @osric1730  Europe isn't monolithic, but the 4th Reich, i.e. German dominated EU, wants to see it that way under German leadership. The problem is that the Germans lead in such a way as to benefit THEM only. For example the Germans never wanted Americans in Eastern flank NATO countries. They still oppose it. The Germans wanted and still want appeasement with Russia. They built Nordstream 1 and 2. They force the green order as it's called by some which will open up the EU food market to Mercosur which has lower standards, thereby k1lling local farming but allowing South Americans to have cash to buy BMWs and Mercs. The calculus of Putin is not as complicated as you want it to be. Russia, Putin or no Putin, has always been an IMPERIALIST state. It is still stuck in that 19th century mentality. Europe really needs to come to the table and do all it can to keep the US presence in Europe but at the same time, a rich union like the EU can't rely on American boys from the mid west to fight our wars for us. To be our bodyguards.

We Poles and others would prefer to host those bases in Poland etc. But the Germans oppose that. Germany lies. Germans would sell the former WP countries to Russia for cheap gas and 'peace'. And Russia won't invade Germany. They only have to corrupt their leadership like Schreuder. The Germans are really disgusting as a government. And their people should do more to understand other Europeans and not be so SELFISH. Because for us in Poland, Romania etc it's EXISTENTIAL. For Germany it's just more money. Poland, Czechia, Romania etc will be buffer states for Germany. They don't worry about Russia. It's all Molotov-Ribbentrop. And that's why I'm not anti-Trump. The former Bidens and Obamas didn't want to put US soldiers in Poland and kissed German behinds. Trump at least seems to favour people who are also conservative and pay. In Poland we're happy to pay. But we don't want Ivan here and we don't want to be controlled by Germany either. Saying that we understand that in the EU and NATO compromises sometimes have to be made and you also have to listen to others. But as things are, the Europeans don't really care about their co-Europeans.

  36. The grain should be going to Africa but instead gets dumped in the EU. If the EU cared it would pay the farmers and send the grain to Africa where people are starving. It wasn't going there. The Ukrainian grain is run by multinational Western concerns.

  37.  @danielwalker5682  Nothing is justified here. But you have to understand the context. The Germans exterminated all Soviet POWs. The survival rate for a Soviet POW was like 1-2%. The Russians actually treated the Germans better than the Germans treated the Russian POWs and women and children. I'm Polish and I don't like either WW2 Russians or WW2 Germans and I don't like Russian imperialism now, but this discussion is about WW2 and back then the Nazi Germans and their allies were actually worse. I'm anti communist by the way.

TIK History has some videos about the eastern front and what the German army did i.e. take food from the peasants and cause them to starve to death. Secondly we all know that the Russian POWs were treated terribly. Finally him being Norwegian does not mean he knows how much worse the fate of most Slavic people was compared to fellow Aryans as the Norwegians were at the time. I actually know that most Western Europeans know very little about WW2 and likely because inherent racist and supremacist biases consider us Slavs as lesser human beings. I mean look at you. You bring up Napoleon. We're discussing WW2 here in the context of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and you speak of Napoleon. For you this is a navel gazing exercise in bringing up anecdotes. Hence I don't know if he knows.

For one the Nazi Germans were systematically eliminating people, they started with Jews but the first people they targeted in Poland were not Jews but Polish intelligentsia - some were Jewish Poles too, but targetted not for their Jewishness but to decapitate the Polish nation. Google the Intelligentzaktion. Now tell me where did the Western allies implement this in Japan or Germany after defeating them. They didn't. This is but one of many examples of how the Allies never reached the evil of the NSDAP Germany. The Soviets were evil too, we know, but their intentions were not to mass exterminate entire populations but to subjugate entire peoples. And the Soviets did have an Intelligentzaktion in Poland in 1939 and in 1944-1989.

  45. Several problems. Europe has no people to fight. Europeans in polls usually say they won't fight for their country. The armies are small. Secondly Europe does not have many arms. And ammo is running out. Finally Europe has no significant nuclear deterrent. UK and France have a deterrent but neither UK nor France will want to sacrifice London or Paris for Warsaw or Berlin. Europe also has no tactical nuclear means. America has a limited tactical nuclear arsenal but less so than Russia. The Russians can, as Bartosiak says, can escalate to descalate. They could fire off a tactical nuke. What will the West do? Tactical nuke capability is limited. The Russians could escalate which may bring the West to back down.

Wyborcza is a left wing paper completely . TV N has left wing sympathies and was biased towards the former opposition. Republika is the only TV news agency which is not biased pro the ruling coalition. So? There has to be balance in terms of the media landscape.
