Dear Kyoto resident, Your post is racist.

@alunsinus_prime How did you get that? Slavery was ended by the British. By the way Japan has a long track record of xenophobic politicians, take Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara.

Not long ago Japan still had kamuro too. Google what those were.

Geisha and the people they sleep with?
2
Except here it's because foreigners took pictures. Nobody would mind taking pictures of Stonehenge.

@OLIIE-gs5rj Dude, 99% of the world has no interest in seeing geishas. For much of Asia, they still remember the same geishas urging their troops on to oppress their people. Asian countries have just as old and older cultures. No, Japan has a long tradition or history of xenophobia. For example women who marry non Japanese often get disowned by their family. I knew such people. Foreigners get blamed for everything because Japan was not properly Westernised. In the West such behaviours are wrong, Japan was allowed to foster them. Tokyo governors were openly racist. Politicians are openly racist. Japan still has not apologised for many of their WW2 abuses and they actively combat people who honour Korean comfort women. If this was just as single situation of poor traditional people who are harnessed, I would be OK but it comes on the back of chronic, long standing anti-foreigner behaviours. And Japan owes so much to the West. Meiji Restoration was their luck to get everything for free without being colonised. They were rebuilt after WW2 and did not have to satisfy Chinese justice. In the West we closed our factories to import their stuff, and Japanese stuff is a bit overrated. You need to see the bigger picture and you're doing them a disservice by allowing them to linger in their 19th century way of thinking.

I'll be honest, they really don't look pretty. I don't know why people are so obsessed with seeing them. Don't give me grief for voicing an honest opinion. Now some Japanese idols look very nice but these geishas are not attractive. I would never bother them.
2
But Japanese don't treat foreigners as guests.
1
That's the thing. Japanese don't want tourists. They are the 3rd RICHEST country in the world because in the West and other parts of the world we bought so much of their stuff and closed our own factories because our products although better were more expensive. I think it's time for Japan to be for the Japanese, but also in products too. Let Japan ban foreigners and we ban her products. I think fair is fair. Our factories can re-open and we can have jobs.
1
Yes imagine... after all Japanese are gods and goddesses.
1
For many Japanese you are no different to those 'idiots'. Know that.
1
geishas with small g.
1
You should not have looked or smiled. You probably profaned her with your Western ways.
1
And nothing of value will be missed. You can keep your geisha but give us back our classical music, Western dress, Western art and science and so on. Thank you.
1
Nothing of value will be missed. Hopefully the tourists will go to other countries.
1
Well they no longer follow the minor prostitution practices, thank Goodness. They don't do kamuro anymore.
1
Then it will fall apart with normal wear and tear.
1
Interesting because in the West a public street is OPEN TO EVERYONE. You are allowed to go on any public street. Japan is not a Western country, it seems. My respect for them has dropped.
1
It's better to not have any Japan trip. Japanese don't want you there.
1
@OLIIE-gs5rj Environmental degradation. Even foreigners moving around disturbs the area, even if they don't touch. For example carbon dioxide from tourists can damage certain things.
1
I mistook geishas for royal family. Who is harassing Japanese emperor's guards?
1
That was probably bad enough. I never traveled to Japan but hosted many Japanese people abroad (often for free). I don't care for buildings or clothes, I like individuals.
1
And don't give visas to foreigners.
1
They don't want to see you. Japanese don't like foreigners except in some designated areas, eg you can go but be in a cage, so to say.
1
When was such a time? Because tourism to Japan is a new thing. Only from the 70s or so.
1
You should not visit Japan. Your mere presence upsets the true blooded Japanese. If you really respect Japanese, we'll leave them alone. But they can give back our Mozart, Chopin, Liszt and so on.
1
You Yanks should move out and let China move in.
1
@Tbeeisi Every country has a culture. It's also one subtype of old culture.
1
Don't visit Japan. Leave Japan to its people. Stay home.
1
Or go to jail like in WW2.
1
There is nothing special about these performances. I think as Europe we should ban Japanese from sites like Notre Dame.
1
@madhusmitahajong4665 You do realise that if America did not win WW2 there would have been no culture except Japanese in all of Asia?
1
I have to question this harassment. It's probably overblown and exaggerated. I think most Japanese people are extremely spoilt and despite the long working hours they had peace and prosperity after 45 and did not have to face the turmoil and wars and soviet occupations and oppression and so on. They live in a bit of a bubble. And while rich it's OK but Japan is becoming poor because other nations are doing tech too now.
1
But no kamuro because "filthy" Western practices banned that Japanese tradition.
1
Maybe they don't want to be admired either. Let them be alone.
1
@nurlindafsihotang49 They're made into a curiosity.
