  1. It's not just that those benefits which helped were temporary and ended. Then inflation spiked. Even though that was largely due to corporate price hikes, the Fed tried to combat inflation with interest rate hikes. That then hurt the same poorer people more due to higher credit card, car loan, and mortgage payments. Rents shot through the roof as hedge funds bought up properties. All of this hurt the poor the most, while the wealthy and corporations made out like the bandits they are.
