For much of my life, the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even 00s, car companies and specifically the big three American car companies would take a sleek, sexy design and then water it down or otherwise uglify it so it could be sold in the USA. Sometimes, the same American make and model would have an ugly version for the USA and a sexier version for everywhere else. Finally, now some of the EVs (Hyundai and Kia especially) are selling better-looking vehicles in the USA too.
