  2. I wonder whether Ford's cost-cutting by making scale or no-engine models instead of full-sized prototypes was due to Edsel. Even before Edsel spectacularly failed, Ford poured so much money into Edsel as its new car brand. That was in the late-1950s around the same time these concept "models" were coming out.
