NBC News is consistently pronouncing convicted murderer Joran van der Sloot's name wrong. van der Sloot is a Dutch citizen. In the Dutch language, "Sloot" is pronounced like "slote". The 'oo' makes a long 'o' sound in Dutch. ABC News, at least their morning news people, pronounced "Sloot" correctly. BTW, "van der sloot" translates to "from the ditch".

@ttacking_you I never said it was serious. You said that. I just expect professional journalists who get paid a lot of money to get the details right.

@larryo6874 I did not realize that we were mispronouncing Van Gogh until I moved to the Netherlands. It took me quite some time to learn to pronounce the hard 'g'.
