I was living in Europe then. I went to some kind of an expat fair there where the US embassy had a booth. I asked a woman who worked for the US embassy whether I should be worried about COVID. She said it was nothing more than the flu. I don't know whether she was a political staffer, but her comments sounded a lot like Trump's at that time.
