  1. Civil asset forfeiture are horrible laws which allow for legalized stealing by police. However, even then there are procedures which must be followed when police take property or money under CAF laws. Usually, police must tell the person what they are taking under CAF and the person is allowed a slim-to-none chance to get it back in court. Then the taken money is split up usually among the police department, city budget, or state law enforcement. CAF typically does not allow individual cops to take someone's money in secret and divide it up amongst themselves in secret. This case is grand theft.
