  1. Viruses are DNA with some helper enzymes surrounded by a protein shell. The main way that viruses mutate is through replication errors when they spread. Getting everyone vaccinated so viruses cannot spread greatly reduces the possibility of variants which could cause even greater harm and at some point be resistant to the current vaccines. That is why young, healthy people should get vaccinated too.
