Donald Trump had also sued Michael Cohen for defamation in a different case. Cohen's lawyers scheduled a deposition with Trump. Finally, when Trump could no longer delay the deposition, he dropped the entire case because he did not want to sit for a deposition. Had ABC been afraid they were going to lose the case, they at least would have waited until after deposing Donald Trump. Instead, ABC settled right before Trump was scheduled to be deposed.
