  1. For 50 years, at least since the OPEC embargoes of the early 1970s, politicians keep saying that we need to get off of foreign oil. Then tensions calm and everyone forgets about that until the next incident. So many false promises. So many lies. Here we go again. Getting off of oil completely would include getting off of foreign oil and would sharply limit the power of countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia as well as attempt to curtail the climate crisis.
