  1. The judge is not a property appraiser. He did not make up the lower numbers; those were obtained from county tax assessors. E.g., Trump claims his Mar-a-Lago resort is really worth $1 billion+. The county tax assessor values it at $26.6 million. Trump got tax breaks in the early 2000s for restrictions that no one can divide the property or build homes on it, etc. That makes it less valuable. Trump recently paid a little more than $500,000 in property tax on Mar-a-Lago. Had it been assessed at $1 billion, he would have paid ~$10 million a year in property tax. He also overvalued his properties to banks and insurers.
