I had a connecting flight from Dallas to Austin. It was 107 F in Dallas that day. When I got onto the plane at DFW, I noticed it was very hot. But then when we started moving, I noticed that the A/C was not working. Just a trickle of warm air coming out. It was a short flight, ~35 minutes in the air, but I thought older or younger people were going to die from the heat! I sent American a letter. I got a response from a computer, sorry your flight was delayed. I guess they didn't have a "sorry we [allegedly] baked you" response. This was in 2006. I haven't flown American since. Airlines are still baking passengers today. Horrible.

School boards matter. We have so many people believing so many conspiracy theories about COVID-19 and other things. This is because people don't understand science and therefore don't accept science. If we stop wasting so much money on school administrators and sports teams, and put that money back into teaching, then voters will have a better understanding of how the world works and we won't end up with "Donald Trump"-like presidents.

The dumbest thing is that these people who responded do not even realize that the policies they are fighting against would help them too.

I wish I could share your optimism. I have seen so many people who are charitable or kind, but then when it comes to politics they are hateful and bigoted. A big problem is that so many voters are not well-educated even if they did complete school. They will believe whatever makes them feel good at the time, even if it goes against their own self-interests. I have decided to leave the USA sometime before the beginning of 2025. Good luck to the rest of you.

To be fair, the first three candidates on your ballot in the video would still do a lot of "mud slinging", especially if there were a dog treat buried in the mud. Seriously, I don't understand how California is so far behind other states in implementing RCV. We do, however, have "jungle primaries" for some races where the top two candidates regardless of party advance to the general election, instead of just the top Democrat and the top Republican.

I'm afraid that Democrats won't do enough under Biden, which will cause voters to vote Republicans back into control, similar to what happened under Obama.

Banking is not only exciting, after 2008 banking is also terrifying.

Democrats fiddle while Rome and the rest of the planet burns.

@le_th_ Thanks for the reply. You should post that as a top-level comment so more people will see it. I loved American in the 1990s when they advertised "More legroom in coach". American actually did have more legroom in coach then, and it made a big difference.

If inflation were simply caused by monetary policy and not by corporate price gouging, then corporate profits would not have gone up so much in recent years. The guy on the right especially is either ignorant or lying.

@ianstuart5660 Europe. Canada is difficult to immigrate to. I lived in the Netherlands 2018-2020 under the Dutch American Friendship Treaty, which made it easy, but I was not able to renew after 2 years. It helps a lot of have passive income like retirement, and not have to get a work permit.

Robert Reich, you were Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton until 1997 when Boeing was allowed to merge with McDonnell Douglas. Why didn't the government stop Boeing from becoming the only commercial large jet manufacturer by enforcing antitrust laws then?

Trump is horrible. But who was President after Wall Street got bailed out during the Great Recession? Barack Obama. Obama failed to hold Wall Street executives accountable, as he failed to hold Bush war criminals accountable. Hope and Change did not mean much. Which is why voters became so distraught that they believed Trump's lies. Both the Democratic and Republican parties are to blame, for both past and present misdeeds.

Biden also has not yet picked an FCC commissioner to replace the horrible Ajit Pai. This is how Democrats lose. They get into office and then get nothing accomplished.

Chris Hayes, you need to dump the "Fox News of the Neoliberals" aka MSNBC.

I think it is especially sickening that Mothers Against Drunk Driving put their name and reputation on these Uber et al.-funded pro-22 ads. So now MADD cares more about harming workers' rights than it does about ending drunk driving. Plus, since Uber allegedly allowed sexual harassment, sex discrimination, and even rape at its own company, then MADD implicitly supports that too.
1
@wesleymatthews6356 Not at all. Drunk driving is a very important issue. I just think it clouds the issue when MADD starts conflating drunk driving with corporate anti-worker and other issues which are not related to drunk driving. It appears like MADD got paid off to be a shill for Uber et al. I don't like that.

It's over. The Democratic Party thought that a genocide in Gaza and ignoring the economic plight of the working class at home were winning strategies. A plurality of voters this time elected a man who let hundreds of thousands of Americans die from COVID and who tried but failed to overthrow the 2020 vote. With the Democratic Party only caring about its corporate donors, and the Republicans being fascists in control, the USA is done.

So many of the corporate news stories about strikes fail to mention the massive amounts of money CEOs, other executives, and shareholders are getting. They use fearmongering to scare people that the average consumer, small businesses, and the economy will be hurt by strikes. The fact is, these companies can afford to pay their workers for all the hard work they do.

Take that, Michael Moore.

Republicans do terrible things. Democrats do nothing to stop them. We are all screwed.

After the media essentially reported George W. Bush press releases on war with Iraq as "journalism", the media had to apologize and promise to do better. After the media gave Donald Trump so much free coverage in 2016 that he won, the media apologized and promised to do better. Now the media is doing the same lazy, shoddy work again. The difference this time is that if Trump wins, the media could not only lose their freedom of the press, but if they are not already all-Trump, all-the-time, journalists could be imprisoned by Trump.

Housing, healthcare, automobiles, education. Four areas where prices have skyrocketed which directly hurt most poor and middle-class people. How does the gov't counter this inflation? Windfall profits taxes on corporations? Splitting up monopolistic corporations? No! The fed raises interest rates, which hurts poor and middle-class people even more. Wages have stagnated for so very long, that the gains now do not make up for this. That is why Biden gets low numbers on the economy. Keep in mind that Democrats, when they were in charge of both the executive and legislative branches, did not repeal Republican tax cuts. Obama signed a law to make the Bush tax cuts for the rich permanent. Biden never mentioned any effort to repeal the Trump tax cuts for the rich. Biden has not done enough. Poor and middle-class people, and especially younger people, are still hurting financially.

The problem is that courts and judges generally do not care when it comes to holding someone like Donald Trump accountable. Plus, it has just been revealed that AG Merrick Garland and FBI Chief Chris Wray delayed investigating Trump for more than a year. Now, it is likely too late for a criminal case against Trump to reach a verdict before the 2024 election. There are two systems of justice. The system which regularly allows the rich and powerful to get away with massive crimes, took too long to decide that Trump really did do bad things.

They need to be expelled from the Senate.

I don't know how Joe Biden is going to win the 2024 election when he supports the Israeli genocide of Palestinian people.
