Yep.

Why does so many need to rely on the grid. Become a micro generator with solar panels plus a Powerwall.
1
Looks like net zero may be dead. Perhaps time to enjoy the party while it lasts & sod future generations.

@Andriastravels A friend at just above 50 degrees with roof solar in concert with a PowerWall has no problem keeping hisTesla charged. He says it’s the PowerWall being charged throughout the day makes all the difference.
1
@teekay_1 My friend paid much much less than that. But he lives in Europe. Heard stories about the high cost of living in Australia.
1
@teekay_1 Thank you putting me straight.
1
@Andriastravels Every little helps. My friend is happy with his setup. He had money to invest. Recons the return is worth it.

The U.K. Government website site say that from 2025 vehicle excise duty will rise in line with the retail price index. Meaning it may take years to double. Talking about doubling seems like just scare tactics. But I suppose that does up a video’s click rate.

If you have solar and a PowerWall it’s possible to run EV’s off grid. Apart from tires they need about the same maintenance as a washing machine. It’s time to buy a used EV folks.
1
Second hand EV great value for money. Get in there before others catch on.
1
Isn’t the move to EV largely about cutting nitrous oxides with CO2 as a sideline. Aren’t low emission zones are designed to cut nitrous oxide emissions..
1
@adjjackson9331 A friend.
1
@xr6lad My friend recons he has a better return than money in the bank. Overall makes money. I am ringed by tall trees so would not work for me.
1
@michaeldover918 Biomass is net zero given time.

@mikepickford1 Apple Newton. Made obsolete by the iPad.
1
@mikepickford1 I looked at the Newton. But couldn’t justify the expense. I found Palm OK. But mainly for impressing the natives. Too much like hard work in the real world. iPads are the real deal & saves me lugging an expensive laptop around. The iMac with 2TB plus 4TB external disk carries the main load.

Looks like China may have the EV bug. Saying the west has it wrong by overpricing EVs.
1
I have just checked. Shell shares are going up in price. That’s on London, Amsterdam & New York exchanges.
1
Isn’t this already happening at Findhorn, North East Scotland. Plus The Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. That’s just the U.K. there must be more around.
1
@SunriseLAW I thought that the 240 volt chargers were the fast ones.
1
@MrOlgrumpy Shell’s shares on going up on the London, Amsterdam & New York stock exchange’s.
1
@jandoerlidoe3412 Time will tell. But while Shell shares are rising I would not be selling.
1
EV ambulances don’t need to spew diesel fumes when waiting outside A&E before they can unload.
1
Isn’t disrupting food production more important than getting into a faff about EV’s
1
With solar & a PowerWall even at 50 degrees north you can run them off grid.
1
@ Try it and see what happens.
1
@ Not fuel injection you don’t. I can remember running a Ford V8 Pilot on paraffin but we had to get the engine hot first. Couldn’t park for more than 10 minutes before starting again.
1
Did you check before commenting ? Their shares are on the up.
1
@MidnightWarrior1976 Long term only time will tell.
1
@williamhaynes7089 Hertz that’s mostly the USA. There is a big world out there.
1
They are building & opening charging stations in the U.K. Solar panels in a field perhaps a couple of miles away. A large battery setup as a load balancer. Along with cafe & internet hub.
1
In the U.K. they are using solar panels. Possibility even a couple of miles away. Plus batteries in a cabin for load balancing.

@smelltheglove2038 My mate living just above 50 degrees north could charge his Tesla with power to spare. His wife now has an EV so spare power is now only available on sunny days in the summer. He had money to invest solar & the Powerwall is giving good return. That return effectively improves ever time the power company puts the price up. But it’s not for everyone. I am surrounded by 40ft trees that apart from just over three months of the year shade my roof.
1
@smelltheglove2038 Fourty an hour. In my area one hundred & fifty is a reasonable day rate. Works out at about twenty an hour.
1
@smelltheglove2038 For carpenters etc. Labourers can earn the same.
