  1. Our state structure differs significantly from Rome. Influence does not equal having the same culture.

  2. Judaism was not subverting the state and was somewhat respected for being an old religion. Christianity, as its name suggests, sees Jesus Christ as their saviour. The Romans did not like that people revered someone they had put to death, as that reverence might lead to discontent with Roman authority.
