  2. Having driven countless CX9s on road trips between Toronto-Cornwall I’ve got to say I love them. Super comfortable, quiet on the highway. I really like their infotainment as well. I prefer a scroll wheel instead of a touch screen. I also really appreciate the power train. It’s nice that you hardly have to downshift when accelerating. It feels more lively than a lot of V6 competitors honestly. My biggest issue with them is the fuel range just isn’t there. Wish Mazda would give their vehicles bigger gas tanks.

  8. I was just driving a 2023 Elantra Essential (base model) and I really like them. It’s comfortable, I LOVE how the turn signals feel. I did 150 mi trip with cruise control set at 75 mph and according to the car I averaged 49.5 mpg. The 2.0L and CVT are honestly a good pairing. I like how responsive the CVT is. I personally like it more than the new Civic and Sentra. Although i think the Jetta and Mazda 3 are nicer to drive.

  9. There's just something about high mileage cars that gets my blood flowing. My parents have a 2003 Volvo XC70 2.5T with 262k in mint condition. Just waiting for the day they pass it down to me. But the E46 is probably my favorite gen of the 3 series.

  14. Glad you’re finally driving one. We had a 2020 Escape 2.0T as a company vehicle for about a year. It was overall a decent suv, fuel efficient and comfortable. The 8 speed automatic was very unrefined and jerky in traffic, and the B&O subwoofer in the trunk would rattle. Looks like they’ve fixed those issues for the facelift which is nice.

Hope my Buick with my all seasons and failing transmission can handle it lmao. I see quite a few people in my city winter driving mustang's, BRZs, Miata, 911s etc.

  25. God I love Volvo’s. Ours just passed 242,000 miles.. cruising at 85 mph is where our XC70 2.5T shines. I can’t afford a 850R but I’d love to find either an 850 GLT or an S70 preferably in a 5 speed. Also I can’t believe your channel has surpassed 100K subscribers, I was here when you had about 10K. So congrats on that!

  31. I have a few friends who own this generation 335i and there's always something broken on them lmao. Burning oil, coil packs, valve cover gaskets, turbo issues, electrical issues etc. But still super fun to drive when they're working lol.

  37. We had a 20' Tiguan and drove it 40k in 6 months and never had a single issue until we traded it for a new Odyssey. My best friend had a 17' Golf that she drove the crap out of till 110k and didn't have any issues and never went to the shop. Tho I will say Mazda is better. But imo VW isn't as bad as you make them seem. I will say every automaker has problematic vehicles. Toyotas reliability has gone downhill over the past 5-10 years.

  38. We had a 2019 Odyssey Touring (top trim in Canada) as a company vehicle for a while. It was flawless. Never a hiccup from the 10 speed auto. Very comfortable, average 26 mpg at 75 mph. It was quick, I remember out accelerating a Volvo XC60 lol. We got rid of it with 120k miles and not one issue. I’ve driven all the minivans in this segment and while I do like the Carnival I think the Odyssey is on top. Pacifica is alright, and the sienna has a CVT so I’ll pass.

  41.  @SerPurple51  interesting. I’ve driven both as well, and they feel pretty solid compared to its rivals. The RAV4 incredibly cheap, same with the Escape. It’s on par with the CRV and Tiguan in driving feel. The CX5 is still my top pick tho. Also never dealt with or head of the CV joint issues.

  64. Since I'm a driver at a car rental agency, we have a lot of the new hatchbacks and they are really nice, only dislikes are the drivers armrests are too hard just like the Kia Sportage for some reason... Listening to you talk and drive while high is literally the most enjoyable thing ever.

  73. I timed your 0-60 a few times and kept getting 6.4 seconds, which I think is good... if I'm correct it's the quickest of all the small SUV's besides the Sportage 2.0T and the Equinox 2.0T they all do under 7 seconds.. but man this Mazda looks super good!

  76. I work for a dodge dealer as a driver, and have driven the SRT Durango quite a few times on trips, but have yet to see or drive a hellcat. Over 700 hp is insane I like girth in most instances lol, but I think the steering wheel is a bit too thick for my liking.

  78. We daily drive a 2021 Wrangler 6 speed that’s lifted with 35s and it’s really great to live with every day. When we do road trips we leave my golf at home and always take the Jeep! - Hawaii looks beautiful. Hope you had a great time!

  79. Odyssey. Sounds better, quicker, handles better. Buttery smooth 10 speed automatic, and during my ownership with a 2019 I consistently averaged 24 mpg which is more than fair for a minivan. If you want a hybrid then the Toyota.

  82. When I worked at Enteprise trying to get the frontiers around the lot was such a chore. By far the largest turning radius I've ever dealt with. I do like the new frontier tho, id be curious to see how it drives in comparison to the Colorado and Tacoma.

  85. The 2.5L 4 cylinder is enough reason NOT to buy one. It’s slow, and can barely manage to overtake another car at highway speeds. The Hybrid trim is the only way to go with these. If you want an off road capable SUV definitely get a Subaru Wilderness.

  86. I love mazda, have driven many of their models.. the CX50 looks gorgeous. I wish mazda would add a couple gears to their transmission tho. Although their 6 speed auto is responsive I think it's lacking a bit.

  90. My best friend has a 2021 JL Wrangler Sahara. It’s a 6 speed manual and lifted 3 or 4 inches riding on 34s. Recently installed a cold air intake and it sounds great. Has 43k miles and no issues yet. We’ve done some pretty fun off road trails and it’s unstoppable. Drove it in downtown manhattan which was fun. Gets about 19 mpg on the highway and 13 in the city. She traded her MK7 Golf in for it. It’s really made me love the wranglers. It really doesn’t drive as bad as people say. I’d take one over a bronco and 4Runner all day longggg.

  99. I’ll never understand why Lexus does the F sport crap. If I’m buying a Lexus I want a cushy boring reliable vehicle. Not something with sport tuned suspension etc. I drove a 2022 ES350 F sport for a few hours at work and I wasn’t impressed. I think I’d rather go a tad smaller and get an Audi A4. Quick and still bets 30 mpg.

  106. I finally got to drive one at work the other day. It was a blast, I was surprised how short the throws were with the manual, but super easy to drive. Can't believe how well it handles for a FWD car. It's fast too. If I had the $$$ I'd buy one right now.

  111. My friend was looking for a new car and she was thinking of getting a Sentra but I sold her on a 2023 Mazda 3 hatch. It’s AWD with the automatic but still a beautiful car. I’d personally swing for a manual, Mazda gets that right always.

  112. I actually just drove a non hybrid platinum, and I was impressed. Super quiet, nice ride. Interior is solid, and the HUD is nice. The large infotainment is pretty good too! I have a Platinum Hybrid this weekend, and the powertrain is fine, but I personally prefer the V6.

  114. It seems to me that the big American luxury suvs seem to all have cheaper interiors than the British and German rivals. I've noticed when driving new Ford products with the 10 speed theres still some harsh shifting going on and that's rather annoying. The grand wagoneers interior seems to be nicer than this and the Yuk...I mean escalade.

  120. I was just in the market for a newer car and ended up buying a 2021 Golf with a manual. It has wireless apple CarPlay and PHYSICAL climate controls. It also has adaptive cruise control. All for $20k. I could never justify $50k+ for a new car. I can’t stand how many automakers are putting everything into a touch screen. Not a fan of this new mustang interior, or any of the ford interiors for that matter.

I recently drove a new Nissan Altima with the CVT for my job and I thought the CVT would be atrocious as i only like conventional automatics and manuals, BUT the CVT actually wasn't bad, under normal acceleration you hardly notice it and under full throttle it isn't bad.

  129.  @lockhart1895  do some research. The 3.6 is ancient and it's underpowered. The 235 hp 2.0T is a much better pairing. The Atlas feels really slow when compared to the Highlander, Telluride, Pilot etc.

  146. The acceptable rating in the small overlap crash test is a complete deal breaker for me. Totally unacceptable by ANY manufacturer in 2023. Toyota is a brand that makes vehicles to just fill the market. They don’t do anything that’s class leading in my opinion. Sure it’s reliable I’m sure but most people don’t care about that.

  151. If this was a hybrid I'd be all over it, but I can't justify 100 miles of range. I'd expect a minimum of 200 miles of range. If I was just driving in the city I'd rather spend more and get a Kona EV or just buy a corolla hybrid.

John Frantz I clean every car that returns, I make sure all cars are at least half a tank for gas, if not I go and put gas in them, when cars need oil changes we get to take them (usually done at pennzoil) when cars have recalls we get to drive them there, we get to pick up brand new cars sometimes, we get Mercedes, BMW, Infiniti etc in sometimes they are fun to drive. I also do customer pick ups or ride backs, we deliver cars to collision centres when they are being rented there, we get to drive damaged cars to the same places to be fixed, and my favourite part is we sometimes get to go on road trips to different branches to pick up cars and bring them back, the farthest I've gone is 2 hours there to pick up a Hyundai Accent, and 2 hours back. The qualifications aren't really that hard, they obviously look at your driving record, but are pretty accommodating when it comes to that, previous work experience, the ability to work their specific hours, so I work 7am to 6pm most days, probably a couple of other small items, but can't remember them.

  156.  @GeneralNukes  funny you say you'll stick to Japanese yet the 2019 Toyota Sienna and most 2017-2020 lexus models had fuel pump issues, which turned into a recall, which affected 1.8 million vehicles. The 8 speed automatic In new toyota products have been known to slip and have rough shifts. Just look up reviews of the 2020 Rav4 numerous owners complain of battery issues. Oh and honda with their fuel dilution of oil, carbon build ups, spark plug issues. Mazda's seem to be fairly reliable. Subaru is currently having issues with their new infotainment system, and problems with their CVTs. But yeah, stick to your Japanese engineering lmao. Imo no new cars are all that reliable.

  167.  @Userxxx840  In regards to the Sonata vs Camry the Sonata feels quicker, has a better built interior and nicer materials, heated seats that actually do something in cold climates, quieter at highway speeds in my opinion and definitely feels sportier. I’ve driven so many Camrys and they’re all the same. Noisy at speed, unrefined 8 speed automatic on non hybrid versions and dated tech. Just super boring. I’m in Canada and the MRSP is too much for what you get. The Altima is.. well… an Altima. So it’s awful in every sense lol.

  191. It is expensive, but a Tacoma Trailhunter is similarly priced and in that case I’d much rather the Jeep I think the alpine in the jeeps is fantastic, clear and I love the strong bass. We love our lifted 2021 Wrangler manual. Great fun on and off road especially with the cold air intake. Just took it on a road trip to NYC (about 400 mi one way) and averaged 21 mpg.

I still don't see the benefit of an electric vehicle, i think if Chevy, tesla and other electric cars want to sell more they need to make more charging stations readily available especially here In Canada, where I live we have only one charging station and it's only for Tesla and it's at a estate winery beside my house so it doesn't make total sense to me, my Civic gets around 30 mpg with agressive driving, and putting $5 dollars in gas takes me about 100-120 kilometres which I think is around 80 miles. My Volvo XC70 gets around 22 as well and that's with 360,000 kilometres and a turbo 5 cylinder. so to me I see no advantage.

  209. The steering wheel really bugs me. I was in a 2017 Q5 S-line and it had a lovely flat bottom steering wheel with perforated inserts and it was the proper size. I hate that Audi put a boring skinny wheel that’s right out of the Q7 in this RS5. I also wouldn’t mind Audi giving the RS5 a bit more power.

  211. My parents had a 2000 Mustang GT Convertible when I was a kid. I remember being tossed around a lot while my dad would drift around corners with it. One time on the way to our cottage he did 125 mph on a straight stretch of road. Imo one of the best looking mustangs!

  217. I just had a 2019 Cooper S manual for a few hours today and it was fun, but I’m not in love with the 6 speed manual. After about 3 hours of driving I was kinda over it. I think automakers are purposely making meh manuals to we stop buying them. I think I’d probably still buy a GTI.

  218.  @ARentz07  I certainly wouldn’t keep any vehicle past 5 years, I personally get bored with my cars. The Lexus interior is a deal breaker in my opinion. It looks it’s age, has too many Toyota similarities and the seats are uncomfortable. German vehicles have a solidness inside and out and with how they drive that a Lexus could never match. BMW and their B58/8 speed ZF is just a fantastic powertrain and it’s fast! It sounds great and has a comfortable interior. The S4 is definitely on the slower side, but again is incredibly solid feeling and just does everything well.

  224. I remember driving one on the highway for 150 mi and I swear it downshifted over a 100 times during my drive at 75 mph. I’d use manual mode and it wouldn’t be able to stay at speed in 6th gear. Then Taco may be reliable, but imo it’s the worst small pickup on the market. I’d much rather a Ranger or Frontier.

  253. I did a road trip in a Ram 1500 sport and averaged 19.2 mpg. I've done the same trip in a Silverado LT. I averaged 20.6 mpg with the 5.3L. But you don't really buy trucks for fuel mileage. Also GMs interiors have never impressed me. Not even Cadillacs.

  256.  @SynteliaAi I’m sure you could, but reliability is the only thing Lexus has going for them. Wranglers are reasonably reliable and also hold their value. We own a 2021 Jeep. Purchased it for $51k and 4.5 years later and 50k mi it’s still worth $41k. I think the reliability argument for Toyota and Lexus has gotten a bit old. Their reliability isn’t what it used to be. Just maintain your vehicle properly and it’ll last. BMW and resale value? What resale value. Still a much nicer driving SUV, better driving dynamics and a sleeker looking interior. Better powertrains. I might be a bit biased as we’ve always owned either jeeps or German cars haha.

I finally got to drive a 2021 TLX A Spec a few times for work and it was okay, I thought the seats were uncomfortable after a few hours, the sound system although super clear, it didn’t have enough bass for hip hop songs. Wind noise at highway speeds and the 2.0L turbo felt a bit slow for the segement. I personally prefer driving the Audi A4. The B&O sound system is more than adequate and it drives better in my opinion.

Infotainment wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Even the base sound system bumps. I will say I thought the ride was a bit stiff, without the air suspension. It’s not a deal breaker. Im just such a Volvo whore.

So I recently changed positions at work from a detailer to a driver and I drove a 2020 Kia Soul EX from Ottawa back to my work and i used the lane keep assist system, it steered for me for nearly 5 minutes straight and it worked really really well. If I'm ever In the market for a new vehicle I'd definitely buy a soul. I also love the key haha.

  279. I’ve driven almost every Nissan in their lineup, and usually dislike them. This generation rogue is really nice. Nissan has managed to not make the CVT godawful. Tho if I was in the market for an SUV of this size I’d probably swing for a VW Tiguan or Jeep Cherokee. It had the massaging front seats which just blew my back out. Pointless option. The Bose premium sound system was pretty great. If I was in the market for something in this class I’d choose an Audi Q3 or Volvo XC40.

  293. I have a 19' Touring which is the top trim here in Canada, it has 142,000km and Its been great. Some minor electrical issues. What I like about the Odyssey more than the Pacifica and V6 Sienna is that the Honda feels nicer to drive. The engine and transmission are a level above. 27 mpg as well. When I'm hustling our Honda I find the 10 speed really reponsive. The downside is the interior is getting dated as well as the infotainment. LED headlights at night aren't the greatest. Haven't driven the carnival but I would own one just for the design alone.

  294. That’s fair, but for comparison we bought a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with the 6 speed manual for $51k out the door. It’s loaded too! We spent another $4k on a 3 inch lift, 35s and nice rims, also added a cold air intake. It has 50k on it and it’s been flawless. I understand jeeps can be very expensive too, but it’s hard to justify $88k cdn for a Land Cruiser.

  295. Haven’t driven an F250, but did have a 2020 Ram 2500 Cummins for work the other day, and the torque was just endless, all while averaging 19 mpg.

  297. Although I haven't driven a new Tundra, I'll still take a Ram Limited. At 75 mph I average 18 mpg in the Ram. I think Toyota tries way too hard with their designs.. they need to go back to building boring, reliable vehicles.
