Using aws amplify framework so its mostly backend with graphql and React on the front end building a pwa. Some days are tuff when you get stuck on something and time seems to fly by. Plenty of good resources online but still can be overwhelming at times.

Ok so let's say your going for a job as a backend developer, and that company uses Nest JS for their backend, the team of developers need to know how to use that framework, how else could they??? So they go and read the Nest JS documentation on how to create routes, dtos, services, tests, endpoints, structure etc etc. Let's say you make an amazing framework in the morning that's valuable to other developers, it might have a few functions that take a few parameters...you know it inside out because you made it, but if it's not documented/explained well enough for others it might be useless to them, that's where documentation comes in.

In my first dev job and it's like a roller coaster, some days are good, others are bad when you face difficult problems or even sometimes easy problems that you just dont cop, like yesterday I was extracting data from an object in js, the fake test data was working fine but in my real database call there was a nested object in the data that screwed up everything, so I just filtered it out, had I realised that earlier it would have saved me 2 hours head scratching!!

Rust is a language I'm getting interested in. But regards learning a first language I would argue C would be a bit intimidating as its low level. In my case it was Java which I found difficult to pick up. I then tried Python and found it much easier to get into programming/development so I would always say Python is a great first language.

  266. The answer your looking for is AWS Amplify serverless backend framework. Can do everything you are looking for, logs, serverless functions with express, rest api, gql api, S3 Storage, Auth, CICD, loads of stuff. You will find the logs in the AWS console. I'm quite similar to you, in my first gig using this framework, will look good on my CV I hope, but no AWS expert yet but learning plenty, and making plenty mistakes!

  267.  @ericbochat  No worries, by the way if you do decide to use Amplify, just note that if you do create a gql api each model in your gql schema creates a new dynamodb table. This surprised me as I was watching dynamodb tutorials about the one table model pattern, but Amplify is kind of a mixture of nosql and sql so watch out for that. Also it can be a bit tedious updating your serverless functions because you have to push them to the cloud every time you edit. If you forget a bracket, semi colon you have to push again!

  412. Spend your time building something good that works and is deployed, knowing another css library doesn't really add value.

  413. Its hard getting that first position, but dont go off learning loads of languages, learn one or two very well (and cloud technology) so that you can be productive. Think about it, your manager will not hire you because you know xyz languages, they will hire you because they think you can be productive and will be able deliver tickets (jira). For example you could become strong in Typescript and Node/Nest Js and React and also deploy some projects in the cloud...that will put you in good light.
