You know Mercy, what amazes me the most is how parents just sat on their arses and accepted this in the first case. Right from the start good, honest teachers like me were saying that cancelling exams would be very unfair, and that online learning was a stinking pile of crap. Even without having any children of my own I feel terribly sorry for what's been done to them, but their own parents didn't have the courage and decency to take to the streets and force the government to back down on this. Even animals defend their young better than most of these parents!

To anyone with even a modicum of decency it is self evident that those who gave the same service, and are now living in the same country, should get the same pension. We don't need a debate, or lawyer fattening inquiry. But then, honest decent politicians are as rare as hens teeth.
26
If the other tennis players in the Open are decent human beings they will refuse to take part unless Novak is reinstated. This just goes to show how vicious and vindictive those running Australia are, but then Australia is the world's biggest prison, and this is the behaviour that you expect in prison.
26
Call me strange, but whenever someone has tried to bully me it's only made me more determined than ever to kick their arse!

I think it has very little to do with race, and far more to do with certain groups of people who come to this country, are unwilling to accept its values, and want to impose theirs on the majority.
26
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Welby go down to Dover, dressed in full regalia, and bless the dinghy boys as they came ashore.
26
I gather that both the mask wearing and testing are recommendations, and not a legal requirement, so kids and parents should simply say NO. Any teacher trying to coerce kids in these matters should be "talked to" in a dark alley.
26
But with a large majority Labour have 4½ years in which to pile on far more disaster. There's no democratic way to stop them.
26
@johnriggs4929 As soon as I say "I'm exempt" everybody I've encountered is satisfied.

Let me take you back over 20 years to when I was doing my PGCE teaching practice. In my Y10 maths class I had about 4 bad boys who were hell bent on disrupting lessons. I could see the looks of despair on the faces of the other 25 or so kids who wanted to learn and were very unhappy. But the bleeding heart teacher was more interested in building a good relationship with the bad boys. When I took over from her I came down on these boys like a ton of bricks. Bleeding heart teacher wasn't at all happy, telling me that these kids had a right to their education: the rights of the good kids kind of escaped her. So she took these bad boys out to teach by herself, while I kept the rest of the class. And you know what. It was as if a magic wand had been waved. Suddenly I had happy kids who were able to learn in lessons that weren't disrupted.

My Irish mother, uncle and grandparents will be turning in their graves at the way Ireland is being DESTROYED by these migrants. Little over 30 years ago I lived in Bray, and worked in the centre of Dublin for a while. What a joy it was to have an enjoyable commute on the train. Ireland was then a very safe and welcoming country, where most people were fairly happy. Self-serving Irish politicians have betrayed the people of Ireland!
26
Even at the height of the panicdemic I didn't bother testing, wearing a mask, or worry where I went. I also wasn't stupid enough to take a vaccine that hadn't gone through proper Phase III safety trials.

Perhaps this fellow would be a lot happy if he bought himself a one-way ticket to Sri Lanka. Actually, as long as he promised not to come back, lots of us would be only too pleased to chip in for it.
26
Most of us always suspected that Sturgeon is rotten to the core.
26
Lawlessness flourishes when criminals don't think they will be caught, and don't fear the consequences if they are!
25
Exactly! And maybe it will discourage a few more.
25
It's high time our hard earned taxes stopped funding these bible bashers.
25
Yes its horrific, and bears an uncanny resemblance to what Austria's most famous son did in the 1930s and 1940s. That too was initially justified on health grounds.
25
NO travel restrictions should be imposed! This variant has already been in the UK for a while, but was never noticed because it is so innocuous. South African doctors, with the most experience dealing with it, have described its symptoms as EXTREMELY MILD. A much more fitting name for it would be the Fluffy Kitten variant.
25
A bit like telling people that getting 2 jabs would give them back their freedom: LMAO🤣
25
When I taught in the classroom I used to give my classes a little speech. I would tell them that I was there for every student who was prepared to work, regardless of their ability. But I would also tell them that I had no time for those who weren't prepared to work. That if they didn't care, and their parents didn't care enough to make them work, then I certainly didn't care. You can guess how this would now go down in our ultra woke schools.

If a lawyer knowingly assists in making a false claim they should be struck off. But, as we all know, the Law Society has as much bite as a castrated poodle.
25
Exactly!
25
When in Rome ... If people don't like British values and customers then they should bugger off to somewhere that has those that are more to their liking!
25
The thing about our none to bright politicians is that they are desperate to be seen to be doing something. So they act without even the limited thinking they are capable of, whereas a wise man would spend more time thinking things through first.
25
There are so many Scots who, after the intense pain and misery that Sturgeon inflicted on Scotland, will be overjoyed to see her get some of the payback she so richly deserves.
25
Sensible people have never stopped hugging, giving high-fives, or shaking hands properly like civilised human beings. I've always called bumping elbows the w@nker greeting.
25
I'm guessing that the lordship was bought.
25
Looking at the packed coffee shops, and the nation's addiction to it, putting a hefty tax on coffee would be a much more effective way of raising revenue.
24
One thing that's not mentioned is the rampant ageism that occurs in the country, and this sets in well before retirement age. It's illegal, but unlike racism and misogynism the governments and courts turn a blind eye to it. A classic example is in teaching. When I was on an IMO training camp in New Zealand I saw retired university profs in their 80s giving wonderful lessons to some of the country's very brightest. Go into a UK secondary school and see how many teachers you will find over 50. Their applications go straight in the bin. Even worse, sometimes "capability" is misused as an excuse to drive out older more expensive teachers.
24
Suella is saying what MOST of us are saying. You don't sack someone for telling the TRUTH!
24
The reason Boris won't be removed from office is that there are too few honest and decent MPs in the house of commons.
24
You would find millions of people, myself included, more than happy to carry out the sentence, even if it came at some personal expense and inconvenience. And lawyers who try to get them off, when they know they are guilty, should join them.
24
MI5 should do more than just investigate him!
24
Starmer was in charge at the time so the buck stops with him! While Boris has a mountain of things to apologise for this certainly isn't one of them.
24
Has Omicron killed or hospitalised anybody? NO! In that case it would be REALLY GOOD if it became the dominant variant. It could quickly and SAFELY bestow PROPER NATURAL IMMUNIITY on millions. That's what Boris is really frightened of. That his lies about natural immunity will be laid bare, and that people will loose their fear.
24
Actually this one is well and truly down to Downing Street. It probably wouldn't have happened if they had just kept their mouths shut. The trouble is that only the most feeble minded now trust this government, so when they say one thing sensible people believe exactly the opposite.
24
For decades our governments have blackmailed nurses and doctors over patient welfare, instead of paying and looking after them properly. As their salaries have declined they have watched obscene amounts going to pay for parasitic management which not only isn't needed, but often makes their difficult jobs a lot harder. SACK 2/3rds of NHS management and administration! Not only will this provide the money needed to pay those who do the real work, but the NHS will actually run far better.
24
"a balanced and proportionate approach" Sorry, but for an EXTREMELY MILD variant that hasn't killed a single person in the entire world, and may not even have hospitalised anyone, this isn't at all balanced. It's like calling in an air force strike on a street because a kid has claimed there's a boogey man under his bed.
24
MI5 and MI6 should be dealing with these fanatics, so they never get back to this country.
24
Of course this couldn't possibly have anything to do with the ethnic makeup of Birmingham.
24
So what is the window cleaner going to do, take cheques for a few pounds or carry a card reader and pay some of each payment he receives to VISA? As a private tutor, cash is by far the most convenient method of payment for me and my students. I'm sure others could give many more examples. Of course, if all payments are digital it makes it very easy for the state to completely cut off all funds of anyone who criticises its MPs or policies. Perhaps they will be unable to access their funds for a few weeks due to a "technical problem".
24
Calling Boris Johnson a promise breaker is like calling the Pope a Catholic.
24
When it comes to certain religious and ethnic groups I won't hold my breath waiting to see this law enforced.
23
Leaving this little girl alone, to go out to dinner, was unforgiveable. My parents would have starved rather than leave us alone at that age!
23
Most people are anything but really sad. Under Dick's reign the police acted like Hancock's Gestapo, persecuting people for sitting on park benches if they needed a breather. If the police had instead focused on REAL crime then Sarah Everard would definitely still be alive. This awful woman has blood on her hands!
23
I'm no fan of Liz Truss, but what kind of brainless fool would want to put Starmer in No.10?
23
We had a broken NHS well before covid-19. My sister is a nurse, and with the number of tales she used to come home with about bad and nasty management she had enough material to write a book. I certainly would have, because the material had the potential to be turned into an award winning black comedy. The truth is that, as it is for so many broken organisations, covid-19 has provided an excuse for what was already broken. In reality all it did was make failings more obvious.
23
If the law won't protect our young girls then ordinary people NEED to take the law into their own hands!
23
Even at 30 cycles the PCR, brilliant as it is, was never intended to be used in this way.
