When N.I. was introduced it was a very small tax whose purpose was to provide people with a state pension, and nobody really minded paying it. But under successive corrupt governments it has been mutated like a malignant cancer. This tax should now be abolished and amalgamated with income tax and corporation tax. Simpler tax systems are better tax systems. It's easier for people to understand them, and cheaper to administrate them. Only corrupt governments prefer complex tax systems, because it makes it much easier for them to cheat people.
