  1. When I started at University there were around 3 elderly ladies running the registry. Just look at how many busybodies have their finger in things now. Similarly in most companies there was a tiny payroll department who were told who was being given a job and where they would be on the pay scale. Now we have large HR departments that often take it upon themselves to tell those far better qualified to decide who they should employ. The NHS is but one of many examples of the cancerous growth of management and admin types who do no useful work, but just leech an organisation's resources, and often make the life of those who do the real work much harder. And like a cancer these parasites need to be cut out of most organisations.

  2. Exactly! When I lived in Italy and Germany if you didn't speak the language then you bloody well paid for your own translator. Even though the judge probably spoke perfect English, when I took an old employer to court in Germany I presented my case in German. I remember saying, in German, "my German isn't very good, but my claim is simple". I won my case!
