  1. Principles are great, but acknowledging REALITY is far more useful. Let's review the FACTS: 1. Russia has had a firm hold on the Crimea for years. 2. Russia now holds the two Ukraine areas with Russian speakers. 3. As things stand things are getting worse in the Ukraine with no chance of it ever joining NATO. So, IN REALITY, other than our principles and politicians' bruised egos, we don't actually lose anything by accepting Moscow's demands. The damage to Ukraine and the rest of Europe is going to be truly immense if this continues, and I doubt most people who have really thought things through want to pay such a high price.
