  1. Sorry, but if the Oasis schools in the Enfield area are anything to go by the only thing Steve Chalke has to smile about is his exorbitant salary. In regard to secondary state schools, the ONLY decent ones within miles of me are: Woodhouse College, St Michaels Catholic Grammar School, Latymer School, and Dame Alice Owen. None of these belong to Oasis. Of course Steve prefers this and last years marking, because when there are proper exams the schools I've mentioned absolutely hammer his ones. As to why girls do better than boys, any honest teacher can easily answer this. I have taught in mixed, all-boys, and all-girls schools. Teaching in an all-girls school is heaven, because the girls are generally much nicer to their teachers, and they are much more prepared to pay attention and work. It really is that simple!

  2.  @Locke350  Maybe he was just one of those men who are really bad at teaching teenage girls. It doesn't mean he is a bad person or bad teacher. I remember one such fellow he was a nice chap, and had a daughter of his own, but for some reason the girls just didn't like him: and it's nothing to do with looks or age.
