  1. In all this terrible suffering and carnage, has anyone thought to ask those in the Russian speaking areas of Ukraine (and Moldovia) what they want. If they want independence, or to be part of Russia, surely the democratic thing, for a democratic country, to do is accede to this desire. Scotland got a choice about whether to remain part of the UK, and I'm sure, should they want it, Wales and Northern Ireland would get a similar choice. We seem to be applying double standards. Does all this death and destruction, to force people to be part of a country they don't want to belong to make any sense?
