  1. When National Insurance first appeared it was a very small tax to fund pensions that nobody really minded paying. But successive corrupt governments have mutated it into a malignant cancer that no longer mainly serves its original purpose. Simpler tax systems are better and fairer tax systems. People are much better able to understand them, and they are cheaper for everyone to administer. However they make it much harder for dishonest governments to cheat people. N.I. has had its day. Any government with even a shred of integrity would amalgamate N.I. into income tax and corporation tax.
