It's been a very long time since schools put kids interests first. Let's take two examples: One of the most widely spoken languages is Spanish. Yet most schools insist on teaching French and German. This has nothing to do with what's best for the kids, and everything to do with keeping teachers with the wrong skills in schools. Let's now look at further maths A-level. There are four options: statistics, mechanics, decision maths and pure maths. BUT, its very rarely the kids, who have to sit the exam, that get to choose. Once again the teacher almost always chooses what suits him/her most. Others will have many similar examples.
