  1. This kind of thing is common throughout the food industry. Years ago Dorset Cereals pulled a massive con. Their "Fantastically Fruity Muesli" cereal used to contain 15% of cranberries, and also a decent percentage of blueberries. Both off these berries have now been completely removed.

  2. There's an old saying: "use it or lose it". The stores that are closing are in areas where people are too damn stupid to take advantage of the wonderful value they offer. Keeping less profitable stores open means that other sensible people will have to pay more because of others' foolishness.
