Woke culture has been alive and well in the UK for several decades. Over 20 years ago some of the lefty students at Leeds university, along with some of their lefty lecturers, tried to prevent me being awarded my PGCE. They felt that people like me shouldn't be allowed to teach kids. Funny thing is that in several schools I've taught in I may well have been the most popular teacher in the school.
