Give it a few more months and all pensioners will have something extra to worry about, with the Chancellor anxious to renege on the government's "triple lock" safeguard. He's using the disingenuous argument that giving an 8% rise would be vastly more than what everyone else is getting, but of course 8% of a pittance is still a pittance. As it stands the minimum wage, which people really struggle on, is about 2.5 times that of the state pension. That 8% will still leave most people with an income that is totally inadequate. People don't seem to realise that, despite being one of the richest countries in the world, Britain is one of the meanest with it's pensions and benefits for retired people. Many much poorer countries treat there old people far more generously.
