  1. That will just postpone a lot of marriages. There needs to be a concerted effort to put an end to what is in effect a form of slavery. Anyone found guilty of coercing a young woman into marriage should be very severely punished, and if possible they should be deported. Oh, and lest we forget, FGM is still going on in this country, with government, courts and police turning a blind eye to this live changing torture.

  2.  Chris Cross  Agreed. You know, I do wonder whether all these things would be taken far more seriously if they were happening to pale skinned girls with blonde hair.

  3. @jane That's why you punish them in exactly the same way whether they do it abroad or in the UK. By the way, if it were up to me, the father of any girl subjected to FGM would get the whole lot chopped off!
