I don't particularly like Hunt, but the truth is that people who lend money want to be certain that it will be paid back, and this applies equally well to governments or people. Anyone who applies for credit knows that the more reliable you are perceived to be the more likely you are to get the loan, and the lower the interest on it is going to be. What Truss did was like walking into a very staid bank and telling the manager she didn't have a job or property and wanted a large loan to blow on booze, drugs and 24/7 partying. Hunt now needs to undo this bad perception of Britain.
