  1. As well as being woke, I wonder how many people realise just how bloody useless so many teachers are. As someone who privately tutors A-level maths, further maths, physics and chemistry, I'm regularly aghast at how truly appalling so much of the teaching in these subjects is. What's even more frightening is that most of my students come from the very few half-decent schools around the Enfield area. I'll stick to my areas of expertise, and say that STEM teaching in the UK is a sick joke. Those who are any good can get better paying and far less stressful jobs, so only the very bottom of the university barrel tends to go into teaching. But the final nail in the coffin is that corrupt heads go out of their way not to employ the older more experienced teachers. Those would be the ones that are much less likely to be woke, and really know their stuff. But they would have to be paid more, and would be much harder to bully. I'm so glad I went to school 50 years ago when there were still a lot of really talented teachers who absolutely were not woke by any stretch of the imagination.
