Throughout the UK it ought to be enshrined in law that it shouldn't cost more to get somewhere on public transport than it does in your car. Anything else is ripping people off, and a major reason why people won't give up their cars. I used to live in Berlin where transport is a lot cheaper, and you can set your watch by it.
