  1. Nigel, you seem to be one of the few to have grasped what may well be a genuine Russian concern. Russia is mainly one large flat plane, which makes it easy for armies to roll across it. Napoleon did so and so did Hitler. Only a turn in the weather, both times, saved Russia. One can't help wondering whether it might not have been in everyone's interest if NATO had left all the former Iron Curtain countries alone.
