Unless there IS another 0.5% rate rise soon then inflation WILL go up again. Inflation punishes all those who aren't in a position to demand wage rises that keep up with it. This is usually the poorest, among them millions of pensioners struggling on a far from generous state pension. It is also is a massive disincentive to save, since one is constantly watching those savings being devalued. As such inflation is a terrible evil that NEEDS to be vanquished.

@astiagogo When I see the roads still jammed with people who really don't need to drive, and coffee shops, pubs and fast food joints still doing a thriving trade I KNOW that people aren't just spending on essentials. Neither are all those rushing off on holiday.
