  1. Doesn't surprise me. For example, a good plumber will typically charge between £60 and £90 an hour: and you are really stupid if you use a bad one. You are earning far more than most of these teachers that tell kids to go to university. And you are probably enjoying life a lot more too.

  2. As a private tutor who only tutors A-level or I.B. Diploma ( maths, further maths, chemistry and physics), my living depends on students who are generally very keen to go to university. However, I'm the first to tell them how much better off a good plumber or electrician, and many other tradesmen might be, than most people with degrees. I just wish most teachers, who are still in the classroom, had the honesty and decency to point out to students that tradesmen often earn more, AND enjoy their job a lot more, than they do!

  3. ​ @rob338  With the silly snobbish attitudes we currently have I can't see this happening anytime soon. Also becoming good at ones trade takes a lot of dedication and time. You ultimately save yourself a lot of money and stress by paying a bit more for a really good tradesman, so I can't see their wages collapsing.
