Sadly what Patrick is saying is bang on. Parasitic managers and admin staff in the NHS are it's very own virulent cancer, that is sucking the lifeblood out of it. People should pay for their own headache tablets. Also, I would really like to see a £10 fee for every self initiated doctor's appointment, as this would get rid of the hypochondriacs and time wasters. Another excellent idea, which I have first hand experience of from New Zealand, is that you pay for your ambulance call out. When I had a kidney stone, that landed me in hospital for the day, I still had to pay for the genuinely needed ambulance. I didn't mind because it meant that ambulances are available for those who actually need them.
