If it wasn't for the NHS my mother would have died when I was in my teens, rather than living to 90, most of which was a good life for her. The problem is in the way successive governments of both parties have allowed the NHS to massively deteriorate. Once upon a time we used to value and look after our nurses and doctors. In my teens there was housing for them next to Chase Farm Hospital, which was closed down decades ago, and then sold to developers.

@sammic7492 My mother received the care she needed about 50 years ago. That was before the rot that caused your terrible experience set in. I'm not denying that there are now terrible problems with the NHS. One of these is the vast numbers of overpaid unnecessary administrators that are the NHS's very own virulent cancer.
