  2. Just two simple actions, both much cheaper than what the government has been doing for years, would have resolved this a long time ago. 1. Those small boats should have been towed back to the edge of French territorial waters, but much further south, so that they had no choice but to head to France. 2. As suggested years ago by "human rights" lawyer Tony Blair, those illegals in the UK should be held on remote, bleak Scottish islands: not in expensive hotels, that most of us can't afford to stay in. Both these actions would be a strong deterrent. Unfortunately you are more likely to find some backbone in a slime mold than in Sunak.
