  2. For a country with one of the best economies, the UK is unquestionably one of the meanest in the world when it comes to its treatment of its old people. Many much poorer countries are far more generous.

  3. The elephant in the room is that due to age discrimination most people find it damn near impossible to get a job at an age well before retirement. This is meant to be illegal, but like FGM the government and the courts turn a blind eye. Thus, people need to be retired because they very often can't get a job. As for the UK pension ever being generous, consider this. Someone on minimum wage, who is probably really struggling, gets around 2.5 times the state pension. So, how are most OAPs expected to survive. As for the government reneging on the triple lock, it couldn't have been better timed to really hurt old people. Their heating bills are set to go through the roof, and their food bills won't be far behind.
