Right at the start of the covid-19 pandemic those of us with even a modicum of intelligence could see how disastrous, and ineffective lockdowns and restrictions would be. Now we are looking at even greater disaster, that won't achieve anything. The FACT is that Russia already has the Crimea and the two Russian speaking areas of Ukraine, and will keep them. We are looking at the fact that the Ukraine is not a member of the EU or NATO. Accepting Moscow's demands is much more a question of acknowledging REALITY than actually giving anything away. In my mind it is the much smaller of two evils. The inevitable consequence of this conflict continuing is that Ukraine WILL suffer vastly more devastation and deaths, and Europe WILL also pay a very high price. Yes, Russia will too, but I don't take any consolation in that.
