Let's look at it this way. The government has mandated a 6.5% rise for those on minimum wage. Yet these people get 2.5 times as much as an OAP on the state pension. Also OAP's fuel bills are going through the roof and food prices are shooting up too. Given all this, no honest decent government would renege on the "triple lock". But then we don't have an honest decent government. We have self-serving ministers drowning in their own sleaze. Do people realise that Britain's treatment of it's old people is one of the meanest in the developed world? As for getting work, age discrimination is endemic in Britain. It may be illegal but both the government and courts turn a blind eye to it. Never mind OAPs people in the UK are thrown on the scrap heap well before they reach retirement age.
