The piggy bank might be smashed but Rishi still intends to cheat OAPs out of what is already a pitiful state pension, by reneging on the "triple lock" promise. Yet he has already prescribed a similar percentage rise for those on minimum wage, who get about 2.5 times as much as the state pension. Many OAPs already struggle with their food and heating bills, which are set to go through the roof. The triple lock is not an over generous luxury, it is an absolute necessity for many desperately poor OAPs!
